Chromating Provides:

• Refined appearance & increased corrosion resistance
• Greater resistance to fingerprint staining
• Acts as an excellent pre-paint base
• Increases paint adhesion
• Imparts color to metal for coloring effect or identification

Things to Note:

• Chromates are soft coatings that when wet, are easy to scratch
• The coating, once dry, hardens with age
• Parts being barrel plated and chromated will get scratched from the rotation of the barrel
• Chromates are damaged by heat greater than 150°F
• When combined with sealers, corrosion resistance on the finish is greatly improved

We also provide green dye for some chromates. Dye must be applied immediately following a chromate, as once "cured" it cannot be dyed.
